You might check out Christopher Schwarz's book, "Campaign Furniture," which discusses them and their history pretty thoroughly.

However, since I've made this particular chair, I've had the opportunity to inspect a "real" Klint Safari chair. There were a few differences. The joint you refer to was indeed tapered, just like the one in this chair, but with a six degree taper. I really like that detail and have started using that detail.

If you make one, send photos!Brian Evehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04252174035715635674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5591297260116621731.post-48151723117070492512019-06-17T22:51:31.741+02:002019-06-17T22:51:31.741+02:00I'm curious about the horizontal-to-vertical j...I'm curious about the horizontal-to-vertical joints. I own two Klint (or Klint-inspired) chairs, which is how I got interested in rhoorkee chairs. In the chairs I have, the horizontal dowels are tapered and they go into tapered holes. Does the traditional rhoorkee design do the same or do they have tenons & shoulders?Steven J Owensnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5591297260116621731.post-9581293133950317522014-06-21T20:37:05.585+02:002014-06-21T20:37:05.585+02:00this is the papa and brian is giving me to much cr...this is the papa and brian is giving me to much credit for helping him do the chair.
I GOT A HOLD OF SOME LARGER AND STRAIGHTER DIAMOND WILLOWS AND
AM IN THE PROCESS OF FINISHING THEM SO WE CAN DO ANOTHER --
DIAMOND WILLOW CAPTAINS CHAIR- OSMOSIS DUDE----Lonniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16002602325579294568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5591297260116621731.post-54603871762918473612014-06-21T20:31:47.835+02:002014-06-21T20:31:47.835+02:00
